This course will focus on nonlinear optics, optical manipulation and photonics. Currently, the planned topics are:
- introduction to non-linear optics
 - modulation of light with electro-optic modulators, magneto-optic modulators, acousto-optic modulators, and with liquid crystals
 - SHG, SFG, DFG, OPOs
 - nonlinear refractive index + optical solitons, optical phase conjugation
 - nonlinear phenomena in optical waveguides
 - stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering
 - multi-wave mixing + static and dynamical holography + optical logic circuits
 - optical filters + optical switches and couplers
 - bistable optical elements + silicon photonics
 - optical signal processing
 - optics of nano-and micro-structured materials
 - optical metamaterials & photonic crystals
 - optical microresonators
 - magneto-optic & optical traps
 - testing of quantum mechanics with photons
